Strathfield South High School is a comprehensive coeducational setting with an enrolment of over 630 students, which includes a Support Unit for students with Hearing Impairment (4 classes) and Autism (6 classes). The Support Unit is a strongly integrated, and integral, part of the school. More than 90% of students originate from non-English speaking backgrounds, and there is a significant refugee population. The lives of most of our students are characterised by the effects of socio-economic disadvantage. Students are supported through strong Wellbeing and Learning initiatives including a well-supported breakfast club, mentoring and transition programs, and after-hours homework centre, all coordinated by a highly proactive Student Wellbeing Team. Innovative pedagogical approaches are characterised by a successful Compressed Curriculum in Years 11 and 12, and a Stage 4 Middle School. Strong engagement with our communities has been fostered through award-winning partnerships with local councils and various community groups and organisations.
