It is situated within Yakanarra Community, which is approximately 120 kilometres south-west of Fitzroy Crossing, on the edge of the St Georges Ranges.

School-aged children in our small Aboriginal community of Yakanarra attend the Yakanarra Community School. Established in 1991, we conduct classes from preschool to year 10, catering for approximately 20 primary students and 10 junior secondary students.

As we a in a remote location there could be an opportunity for an Administrator role to be created for a partner, if they were experienced and had the relevant qualifications. 

The Role 

As an integral part of the school community your duties will include but not be limited to: 

  • Managing daily duties to ensure sufficient operation of the school
  • Implementing school policies and ensuring adherence to relevant government legislations
  • Managing resources and financial matters with school administration
  • Leading and overseeing school staff
  • Overseeing and implementing the West Australian curriculum, including improving Numeracy and Literacy levels of students
  • Collaborating with Rangers on Two-Way Science projects
  • Supporting the continuation of Walmajarri language revival lessons

About You

  • Experience working with Indigenous students and/or teaching in a remote location is highly desirable
  • Current teacher registration
  • Driver’s license (4WD experience preferred)
  • Current Working with Children’s Check
  • National police clearance
  • Current registration with the TRBWA (or willingness to acquire it)
  • Teaching, leadership, and administration skills
  • Maintain a positive atmosphere and be a role model for students
