About this job

At Veritas Education, we have a great roles available for enthusiastic Primary School Teachers and Teaching Assistants from Australia and New Zealand who would be interested in taking up an incredible opportunity in London, Leeds or Preston!

We also work with schools across other areas in the UK, such as Surrey, Sussex, Essex, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Kent, Lancashire, Cumbria and Yorkshire.

This is a great opportunity to gain some overseas experience, take full advantage of weekends and school holidays to travel Europe and make lifelong memories and friendships with the huge Aussie/Kiwi community in London! Veritas work closely with many top quality schools that are familiar with having overseas based teachers from Australia, New Zealand and Canada. The schools have great support and induction processes in place, helping you to settle in and not feel overwhelmed by your new teaching environment. We endeavour to find the 'best fit' school for you and your needs.

This role is full-time permanent and based in London, Leeds or Preston. There are also opportunities for part-time and casual work available.

At Veritas Education we offer some great incentives:

- A flight reimbursement of £500 for your flight from Australia/NZ to the UK. (Paid after one term)

- A job locked in before you arrive. (For a permanent role)

- A free sim card on arrival.

- Your own consultant in our London office who is able to speak with you 24/7.

- Social events to connect with other overseas and likeminded teachers and have some fun!

- Accommodation assistance - they can provide temporary accommodation for your arrival until you find somewhere permanent to live.

- Continued Professional Development - Training does not stop when you leave University. Veritas offer free continued CPD courses in areas of Behaviour, Ofsted expectations, Phonics, Special Education Needs, Teaching in the UK, What good teaching looks like and many more. Please ask us about any areas you feel you need development in as we may be able to help.

- Referral program - Earn $500 in vouchers for referring a teacher friend by simply sending their details.

- Assistance with all of the administration such as, setting up a National Insurance Number (tax number), setting up a UK bank account, acquiring a DBS check (police check).

- Best of all, there is no agency fee!

The beginning of the school year in the UK is September in which the intake of Australian teachers would be at its highest. However, there is also a broadened opportunity for positions in January and April as these are the beginning of the three school terms in the England.

Eligibility:

You will need a Youth Mobility Visa for this role and can apply through the UK GOV website: https://www.gov.uk/youth-mobility/apply

Originally this was a 2 year visa (3 year for NZ passport holders) for applicants between the ages of 18-30. Fortunately, from 31st January 2024, you can now work on this visa for up to 3 years as an Australian passport holder and the age of eligible applicants has been extended to range between 18-35!

Registration:

If you're a qualified Teacher in Australia, your qualifications will be recognized in the UK and will be eligible to teach there. Graduate teachers from Australia can count one year of teaching in the UK towards their 2 year registration as long as the school you are working at in London provides a mentor (which Veritas can organise with the school) and at the end of placement and they provide you with a letterhead stating you worked there for your portfolio. You can do this either straight after university or the second year. Some agencies will pay you as an unqualified teacher without the 2 years, but Veritas will pay you as a qualified teacher.
