Position Information

Berkeley Vale Campus is a 7–10 campus (enrolment 840 students, including 12% Aboriginal students). Our campus is part of Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College and is one of two middle school campuses.  Berkeley Vale Campus provides an enriched curriculum that caters for diverse learning needs through differentiation and high expectation. Our school’s success is underpinned by two key elements that promote quality teaching and learning programs, Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) and Differentiation.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria,

Demonstrated capacity to develop and maintain long lasting genuine and deep relationships with students, staff and the community that can support working in the Deputy Principal role.

Proven experience to provide instructional leadership in teaching and learning, along with an excellent knowledge of current curriculum reforms and initiatives in education.

Proven ability to effectively lead the wholes school’s literacy or numeracy programs, with the capacity to lead, plan and manage resources.

Outstanding organisational and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated capacity to build learning partnerships with the wider school community that improve the learning outcomes of students from diverse backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and in supported placements.

Highly developed visible leadership skills that can build capacity of others and enhance school culture.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The successful applicant will be appointed to Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College and initially based at Berkeley Vale campus.
