Phonological Awareness

Phonological awareness, a crucial precursor to reading, requires explicit teaching, daily exposure and practice. This hands-on workshop examines phonological awareness and its underlying relationship to and importance in the development of literacy (reading, spelling and writing).

Date February 12, 2019 - February 12, 2019
Time 5:00pm - 7:00pm

Through interactive activities, attendees will explore phonological patterns (such as onset rime, rhyme, syllabification, initial, final and medial sounds in words, blending of sounds, segmenting of words and manipulation of sounds to form words) and examine a range of motivating learning games and tasks. Pre- and post-testing options will be included.

For parents, teachers, SSOs and tutors of preschool and primary-aged children.
