English Teachers’ Association of the Northern Territory (ETANT)

Professional development / Last updated 4 years, 8 months ago

The English Teachers’ Association of the Northern Territory is a professional non-profit organisation and we are affiliated with the Australian Association for the Teaching of English (AATE).

Our objective is to encourage excellence in education and we support our members by providing professional development opportunities and a variety of resources.

We also fund a number of student activities including middle and senior school debating, public speaking and writing/film competitions.

Our members are dedicated teaching professionals from government and private secondary schools. Our sister association ALEA (NT) caters for the needs of Primary/Early Childhood English/Literacy teachers.

We are a small association with approximately 80 members but that doesn’t stop us from taking on big projects.

In 2014 we convened the joint AATE/ALEA conference in Darwin which had over 600 attendees and in 2018 and 2019 we will be hosts for the Plain English Speaking Award national finals and the National Schools Debating Championships.

Please visit our website www.aate.org.au/etant for further details.
