Gilgandra High School, located on the Western Plains of News South Wales approximately 65kms North of Dubbo, is a comprehensive co-educational school serving the community of Gilgandra and surrounds. We have a student population of 240 students, approximately 30% of whom identify as Indigenous. The land upon which the school is situated is of the Wiradjuri, Kamilaroi and Wailwan people. We draw on the knowledge and customs of the traditional custodians, curating and nurturing connection to culture. Every student is provided opportunities to develop skills that will carry them beyond their school years. Our students thrive in an environment that promotes independent, confident learners. We value a breadth of curriculum taught by expert teachers who are passionate about their subjects. Students have the opportunity to undertake a traditional academic pattern of study as well as access to an extensive range of Vocational Education subjects and alternative patterns of study. Our school also offers a broad range of subjects throughout our junior school. We have strong links with a well-resourced local community and we have active partnerships with community organisations including the P&C, AECG and service clubs.
