About the Role

The successful applicant will:

  • Provide leadership and advice in the planning and implementation of capability development in the area of internal data management systems for student behaviour to support the department's agenda for improvement in schools.
  • Research, create and deliver data based decision-making professional learning to improve data literacy capability and support the use of internal student behaviour data to identify and respond with targeted and evidence-informed strategies and supports for students.
  • Provide project planning and support to assist with the development and implementation of department strategic initiatives. This includes current and emerging Australian government and State government initiatives.
  • Provide high level strategic advice to senior officers of the department and other key stakeholders on issues relevant to the specific accountabilities of the role.

You will have responsibility for the following:

  • Provide strategic advice on operational and governance matters impacting on the Maximising learning for every student program of work through project management of emerging issues within the department and across government at both the state and national levels.
  • Provide strategic advice to other branch (delivery partners) representatives on specific issues related to business needs as it impacts business priorities, including project governance and project requirements.
  • Support significant, complex and varied data systems management projects as a subject matter expert in order to identify improvements, define business requirements and participate in project governance as required.
  • Liaise with staff within Early Childhood and State Schools Division, as well as other areas of the department, to brief senior officers both orally and in writing, as the occasion demands, on emergent and critical issues that may require sensitive management and/or immediate attention.
  • Provide executive support services to senior officers of Early Childhood and State Schools Division by preparing and coordinating reports, submissions, briefings, presentations, meeting notes/outcomes and the preparation of speeches, correspondence and responses.
  • Coordinate and manage projects and activities to ensure effective management of emerging sensitive and critical issues in projects that affect state schools.
  • Coordinate responses to the annual cycle of corporate requirements related to the strategic plan, operational planning, corporate business reports, Ministerial Portfolio Statements, Estimates Committee briefings and the annual report.
  • Critically analyse and prepare briefs on complex reports and submissions in order to interpret and render advice for the consideration of executive and senior staff.
  • Provide advice and executive services to support executive and senior staff participation in decision making committees and strategic management team meetings.
  • Ensure effective communication, integration, coordination and liaison occurs within Early childhood and State Schools Division, across the department and with other external stakeholders and establish and cultivate effective relationships and networks with key stakeholders and clients.
