Kids Helpline @ School - Free sessions for all primary school classrooms in Australia

Incursion / Last updated 4 years, 8 months ago

We’re here to help with a FREE service that educates and engages primary school kids. Using video conferencing technology, our qualified Kids Helpline counsellors promote resilience by helping students understand emotions, stay safe and encourage help seeking behaviours.

How do we assist teachers?

Counsellors work with the teacher to tailor the session topic to meet the needs of the school and students. The program has been developed to align with the ‘Technology’ Learning Area and some of the General Capabilities within the Australian Curriculum. Teacher’s also play an important role in co-facilitating the session.

What do students get out of it?

Kids have the opportunity to talk with a qualified counsellor during a group discussion about topics that may be impacting their lives. We equip kids with the skills in order to manage difficult situations, whilst building their help-seeking skills, giving them the ability to reach out for help when needed.

Does it include one-on-one support for students?

The classroom based sessions do not offer individual counselling, however, the students are introduced to Kids Helpline (KHL) – our 24/7 free telephone and online counselling service for 5 to

25 year olds. Students will be invited to contact us should they express the need for assistance during the session.

How much does it cost?

Sessions are FREE thanks to the support of our corporate partners.

Schools can book as many sessions, on as many different topics as they would like.

What web conferencing technology is Kids Helpline @ School using to host the sessions?
